New food festival for Truro

Cornwall is one of the UKs top foodie destinations, and Truro Food Festival is a testament to this.

Taking place over the weekend of 27 – 29 September, the city-wide festival celebrates the very best Cornish Food and Drink with over 30,000 visitors.

Expect to see celebrity and local chef demos, a Cornish Food Hall packed with local produce, workshops, family fun, gourmet street food, plus live entertainment showcasing the best in local talent. At night there’s plenty of music and dancing, an array of Cornish beers and ciders and a real party atmosphere.

The festival will be centred around Lemon Quay and Boscawen Street with pop-up events and a restaurant trail across the city.

The festival will officially be opened with a very special charity dinner with profits donated to the Trussell Trust, a charity that aims to end hunger and poverty in the UK.

We’d love to hear from anyone who would like to be involved and are currently keen to speak to local restaurants and accommodation providers, volunteers, local producers and hot food vendors, potential sponsors and local bands.

We wish the team all the very best

We have been overwhelmed by the support that we have received so far and would like to extend a special thank you to Roger Gazzard and Taren-Lee Corin from Truro City Council, Alun Jones from Truro BID, Ruth Huxley from Cornwall Food & Drink, Tim Vigus from South West Bars & Events and the entire team at ILOW.  Below are some kind words of support:

Ruth Huxley, MD of Cornwall Food & Drink, who operated the Great Cornish Food Festival, said: “We are delighted to hear that there will be a food festival to plug the gap we have left in Truro’s events calendar through being unable to put the Great Cornish Food Festival on.  We wish the team at Truro Food Festival all the very best.”

Roger Gazzard, Town Clerk of Truro City Council, said: “This is a great opportunity for Truro to really embrace our own Food Festival and I encourage businesses across the city to get involved. The Truro Food Fest team are keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved with the event as a volunteer, trader, sponsor, or local business looking to be involved.”

Alun Jones, BID Manager of Truro Bid, added: “Truro BID are delighted to support this year’s new format of Truro Food Festival to be held within Truro city centre this September. This is a great opportunity for local suppliers and businesses to work together providing an exciting event for our visitors and residents to enjoy over a three day period, adding another reason to visit Truro “Our Great little City”. We wish Lee and all the team every success with this event.”
